Beitostølen Health Sports Center (BHSS) provides rehabilitation/habilitation services to children, adolescents and adults with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center provides rehabilitation/habilitation services for children, adolescents and adults with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels. Activity and participation, with a focus on opportunities rather than limitations, are our fundamental guiding principles. Through adapted physical activity, combined with medical, educational and social support, participants are given tools to challenge their own limits and create new arenas of mastery.

Offers for children and young people aged 2-17

The target group is children and young people who have a disability and who can physically and socially benefit from a group-based service.

We offer diagnosis-independent group stays continuously throughout the year. In addition, special stays for young children, family stays, diagnosis-specific stays and theme stays are arranged.

Offer for young adults aged 18-29

The target group is young adults who have a disability and who can physically and socially benefit from a group-based service.

We offer diagnosis-independent group stays continuously throughout the year. In addition, we arrange some diagnosis-specific stays and theme stays. 

Offers for adults from 30 years old

We offer stays throughout the year. For adults from 30 years of age, we have various agreements with the regional health authorities:

  • Helse Vest: The target group is adults who need rehabilitation with an emphasis on adapted physical activity, health sports and/or testing of activity aids. The offer is diagnosis-independent.

  • Health South-East and Health North: The target group is adults with neurological and neuromuscular diseases/disabilities. NB! This agreement expires on June 30, 2026. From July 1, 2026, adults aged 30 and over who belong to these regional health authorities cannot be offered rehabilitation with us.

  • Central Norway Health: The target group is adults with neurological and neuromuscular diseases/disabilities. Applicants with other diagnoses may also be referred for a stay if the goal is specifically related to health sports or testing of activity aids. NB! This agreement expires on 30 June 2026. From 1 July 2026, adults over 30 years of age from Central Norway Health cannot be offered rehabilitation with us.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center offers rehabilitation/habilitation stays for children and adolescents (2-17 years), young adults (18-29 years) and adults (from 30 years) with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels. Patients are admitted after referral from a doctor, preferably with additional information from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or others who know the patient well.

We welcome around 200 students from colleges and universities for study practice each year. Most are students in sports science, but also many in physiotherapy, occupational therapy or other health sciences. We have several physiotherapists on rotation at any given time. With an interdisciplinary approach and great emphasis on user contact in practice situations, knowledge and attitudes in the field are acquired through an opportunity-oriented approach.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center (BHSS) also offers the entire education course for the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (FMR) and 6 months of service with relevant learning activities for the medical specialty of General Medicine (AM). Clinical service or internship at BHSS is also a relevant supplementary service and/or continuing education for other medical specialties such as neurology and pediatrics.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center has approximately 130 employees. The staff includes doctors, nurses and health secretaries, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, sports educators, riding instructors, social workers, activity leaders, caretakers, cleaners, kitchen/dining room employees and administrative personnel.
