Beitostølen Health Sports Center offers rehabilitation/habilitation stays for children and adolescents (2-17 years), young adults (18-29 years) and adults (from 30 years) with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center offers rehabilitation/habilitation stays for children and adolescents (2-17 years), young adults (18-29 years) and adults (from 30 years) with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels. Patients are admitted after referral from a doctor, preferably with additional information from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or others who know the patient well.

The local environment model

We welcome around 200 students from colleges and universities for study practice each year. Most are students in sports and health sciences. We have physiotherapists on duty at all times. With an interdisciplinary approach and great emphasis on user contact in practice situations, knowledge and attitudes in the field are acquired through an opportunity-oriented approach.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center (BHSS) also offers the entire education course for the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (FMR) and 6 months of service with relevant learning activities for the medical specialty of General Medicine (AM). Clinical service or internship at BHSS is also a relevant supplementary service and/or continuing education for other medical specialties such as neurology and pediatrics.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center has approximately 130 employees. The staff includes doctors, nurses and health secretaries, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, sports educators, riding instructors, social workers, activity leaders, caretakers, cleaners, kitchen/dining room employees and administrative personnel.

Winter trial stay

Beitostølen Health Sports Center is organizing a trial stay for youth and young adults aged 15-29 in the period February 10-16, 2027.

Target group: Youth and young adults aged 15 - 29 who need testing, adaptation and training in the use of activity aids for cross-country or alpine skiing.

Period of stay: February 10-16, 2027

Application deadline: Places are awarded on a rolling basis.

Contents: 

  • Testing, adaptation and training in the use of relevant activity aids, such as sit-skis or cross-country ski studded sleds. 

  • The training will also involve guardians or other resource persons. 

  • Any application for activity aids is made in consultation with a local therapist.

Referral/application

A GP or specialist health service doctor can apply for a stay at Beitostølen Health Sports Centre. The application must include a diagnosis, complete medical information, an updated medication list and goals for the stay. More information about referral/application.
