Beitostølen Health Sports Center offers rehabilitation/habilitation stays for children and adolescents (2-17 years), young adults (18-29 years) and adults (from 30 years) with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center offers rehabilitation/habilitation stays for children and adolescents (2-17 years), young adults (18-29 years) and adults (from 30 years) with various diagnoses, disabilities and functional levels. Patients are admitted after referral from a doctor, preferably with additional information from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or others who know the patient well.

The local environment model

We welcome around 200 students from colleges and universities for study practice each year. Most are students in sports science, but also many in physiotherapy, occupational therapy or other health sciences. We have several physiotherapists on rotation at any given time. With an interdisciplinary approach and great emphasis on user contact in practice situations, knowledge and attitudes in the field are acquired through an opportunity-oriented approach.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center (BHSS) also offers the entire education course for the medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (FMR) and 6 months of service with relevant learning activities for the medical specialty of General Medicine (AM). Clinical service or internship at BHSS is also a relevant supplementary service and/or continuing education for other medical specialties such as neurology and pediatrics.

Beitostølen Health Sports Center has approximately 130 employees. The staff includes doctors, nurses and health secretaries, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, sports educators, riding instructors, social workers, activity leaders, caretakers, cleaners, kitchen/dining room employees and administrative personnel.

Summer camp for young adults with Cerebral Palsy

Beitostølen Health Sports Center, in collaboration with the youth network of the CP Association (CPU), arranges summer camps for young adults with CP.

Target group: Young adults (18 to 29 years old) with Cerebral Palsy. Young adults from all over the country can apply for residency.

Period of stay: 15.07.26 - 04.08.26

Application deadline: Places will be awarded on a rolling basis until March 1, 2026.

 

Objectives and instruments

The overall goal of the program is to create a basis for increased activity and participation in one's own local environment. In addition, individual goals are developed in collaboration between the participant and professionals at BHSS. Through adapted physical activity, - combined with medical, educational and social support, participants are given tools to challenge their own limits and create new arenas for mastery.

Organization and content

  • 3-4 organized activity sessions with a professional team every day. In addition, the leisure department offers optional activities and a social program in the evenings and on weekends. We are committed to young adults meeting peers in similar situations.

  • The offer is individually tailored, but is mainly organized in groups with a focus on activity testing and skill learning. 

  • We also offer group/individual guidance with a focus on diet, independence, education and work. 

  • If you need help with everyday activities such as dressing, personal hygiene, etc., you will be admitted with an assistant/companion.

Referral/application

A GP or specialist must apply for a stay on your behalf. The application must include a referring diagnosis, complete medical information, an updated medication list, previous medical history and goals for the stay. A good description of the participant's physical and cognitive functional level, companion needs and special psychosocial conditions that may affect the rehabilitation stay is also requested. Copies of relevant case histories and reports from other professionals are enclosed. You can find more information about referrals/applications here.

Please note that any vacant places in the group after the application deadline have expired will be allocated to young adults with other diagnoses.
